Body condition? A word that may seem unfamiliar to quite a few of us. What exactly does it refer to? Aerobics? Bodybuilding? Body condition is a term used to describe a subtle blend of cardiovascular, stamina and stretching exercises, with the end result being overall body fitness. The class lasts for 60 mins , beginning with an energising cardiovascular warm-up followed by muscle work. A press-ups/push-ups session (the benefits of which are recognised by everyone taking part) comes ahead of several stretching exercises which bring the class to an end. Everything takes place to a mix of musical beats according to the mood of the instructor. There is no step-by-step programme, so anyone wishing to do so can take part irrespective of their level and at any time during the year. There are no classes in July and August. BGS calls on the services of professionals to run these classes. Since September 2002 Guillermo (national aerobics fitness champion) has been giving the classes. Body condition is an excellent way of preparing for all other sports or simply a nice way of doing a bit of exercise as a group.
