Futsal

Futsal was born in Latin America during the thirties. Its name is a fusion of the words « futbol » and « sala ». In 1978, the name ‘futsal’ became official, and FIFA established the official rules. The sport hasn’t stopped growing since, in Latin America as well as in Europe and Belgium.

Thanks to the efforts and motivation of one of the members, BGS decided to create a new activity, futsal, in September 2011. The history of this activity led to the development of a mostly male team. Our futsal players meet once a week on Mondays to train and play together under the leadership of Cristiano.

BGS offers FINTA-exclusive futsal sessions since the 2023-2024 season.

Trainings take place on Sunday evenings and are open to all levels, whether you’re looking to try football/futsal for the first time or just to play in a welcoming environment. Trainings involve drills followed by short matches and are led this year by members of Broussailles (@broussailles_bxl), a transfeminist association that fights against discrimination in sport, through sport.

For the moment, the BGS FINTA team does not take part in competitions, but we are looking into participating in tournaments or organising friendly matches, all voluntary of course.

If you have questions or would like to join one of the two teams, please write to futsal@bgs.org. Cristiano or Priscille will reply to you.

Teams: on Mondays, men’s team (Optima); on Sundays, FINTA team (De Maalbeek).
