During the Pilates classes we will work on breathing, concentration, balance and rythm as well as on your muscular endurance. Although classes require some concentration, they are very relaxing and your evening can start with an new type of energy.
The Pilates method has been developped at the beginning of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates. It focusses on alignment and breathing and allows you to develop a strong 'powerhouse'. Pilates helps you to improve coordination and balance.
Our instructor Julia Rubies Subiros has been passionate about movement from a very young age, beginning with figure skating, then judo, before developing her professional career in modern dance. She studied at several schools in Barcelona before her curiosity and desire to learn more led her to the United States, where she lived for four years, studying at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, then at the Lines Ballet Training Program in San Francisco. There she was introduced to the Gyrotonics® and Gyrokinesis® methods, which she worked on every week, developing an interest for complementary bodywork practices, gaining deeper insight into how the body works. She subsequently moved to Brussels, joining P.A.R.T.S., where she continues her comparative study of various disciplines, such as yoga and Pilates. Ever keen to learn more, Julia took a course in STOTT Pilates. She combines all of her knowledge in her classes. Julia has been teaching Pilates for more than one year in different studios in Brussels, for private clients, and at P.A.R.T.S. She has also developed personalized techniques for dancers.
